To be part of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) - the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) inter-institutional research group ‘Socio-Economic and Environmental Health and Health Services’ (CARES).


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
  • Identify important research gaps and opportunities in the fields of health economics, health policy or health services research with relevance to the research programme of the CARES Joint Research Group.
  • Apply for funding and undertake research that advances the fields of health economics, health policy or health services research at national and international levels.
  • Participate in the strategic planning of the CARES Joint Research Group.
  • Develop and lead interdisciplinary research projects between LIH and LISER.Preparation of reportings

Key Accountabilities
  •  Conceive innovative and feasible research projects by identifying appropriate data, methodologies and approaches.
  • Lead the implementation of interdisciplinary research projects in cooperation with colleagues and project partners from national and international institutions.
  • Apply for and secure funding from national and international funding agencies.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Support the organisation of activities to promote collaboration between LIH and LISER and advance the research mission of the CARES Joint Research Group including seminars, workshops and working group meetings.
  • Develop and establish collaborative relationships with relevant national stakeholders (Ministry of Health, Caisse National de Santé, professional and patient groups).
  • Respond to requests from Ministries for responsive projects arising from national policy priorities and needs.
    (Co-)Supervise and mentor researchers and students in the CARES Joint Research Group.
  • Communicate research results to multiple audiences including wider society at national and international levels.
  • Participate in the strategic reflections of the CARES Joint Research Group, regarding scientific planning and
  • networking activities.
  • Participate in international conferences and workshops.
  • Participate in national working groups established by the Ministry of Health.
  • Represent Luxembourg in international expert groups (for example, convened by the European Commission).

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  •  PhD in Health Economics, Health Policy or Health Services Research.
  • At least 5 years of research experience in the fields of health economics, health policy or health services research.
  • Has developed a body of original research in health economics, health policy or health services research that extends the frontier of knowledge as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to conceive, design and implement cross-institutional research projects and secure research funding.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in multi-disciplinary environments and across institutions.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the Luxembourgish health system and ability to engage with and establish relationships with key national stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop national and international research collaborations and networks.
  • Ability to communicate research findings to multiple audiences with varying degrees of specialist or technical knowledge (clinical, policy, research) at national and international levels.
  • Experience of participation in expert groups at national and international levels.
  • Proficiency in statistical software e.g. R, Stata.
  • Management, organizational and supervision skills.
  • Ability to manage a significant ongoing workload and to respect deadlines.
  • Language skills: fluent command of English; command of one or more of the local languages (French, German, Luxembourgish) is an advantage
  • Excellent English writing skills.
